Have you ever walked past someone, they bump into YOU, and yet you say sorry? Surely you must have. It's in our nature. How about the same scenario, but this time it was you walking into another person? The right thing to do would be to apologize. If you are in the wrong, then apologize for you're wrong doing. What if you aren't in the wrong but people make you feel like you are? For example, what if you are black, gay, female, male, part of the LGBTQ+ community? Unfortunately there are people in the world that make you feel you should be apologetic. Should you have to apologize for any of that? The answer is no, no, NO. It is time for individuals that are being themselves and expressing themselves to be unapologetic and show to world that they don't need to be sorry for being who they are. "Unapologetic Me" is a screen dance that was hosted by Stockton University's organization La Mesa to discuss self acceptance and living authentically on a day to day basis. The event was not only the screening but a display of incredible art work and performances from Stockton's students as well. This La Mesa event has helped me realize that the world should be sorry for being biased and rude, not the people expressing themselves and being who they are. Being there and seeing the fire in the eyes of the panel as they discussed how they have become unapologetic for being themselves has really opened my eyes as well. Be yourselves everybody, be the best you. It's time I become unapologetic me, and its time for you to become unapologetic you.

Hey Stockton, if you ever find yourself walking through J-Wing, you may have passed J-105. What awesome room is that? Why its the tutoring center of course! The tutoring center is one of the best resources Stockton has to offer. Not only is the staff kind and welcoming, they are also eager and happy to assist you with any subjects they have under their belt. Math? They're the pro's. Chem? They would love to have you in the mixture. Writing? Get ready to see sentence structure like you never have before.
It is proven that everybody learns and absorbs information in different ways. Sometimes, sitting in class and being taught one way may just not work for you. Stockton wants to make sure that if someone is struggling to learn in their class, that giving up is not an option. All it takes to understand new material, is a visit to the tutoring center and view the material from a different perspective. They will get through to you by utilizing many different teaching strategies, and they will do it all with a smile. If an auditory method isn't working for you in class, then maybe a visual teaching strategy will click. Because of the tutoring center, I was able to realize which teaching/studying method works best for me. The best part was that I felt welcome from the moment I walked in, and ended up walking out with far more knowledge than I anticipated. If you are ready to channel your true learning abilities, and unleash maximum potential with the help of the tutoring center, then make sure to stop in and see just how wonderful of a resource it can be. Hope to see you there! The center has more than one location and schedules can be accessed via the Stockton website by entering "Tutoring Center" in the search bar. Hello my name is Erin Schrieks and I am currently a Stockton University Alumni. I started at Stockton in 2014 when it was called the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. I graduated in December of 2018 with my degree in Liberal Studies and a concentration in Elementary Education. When I was in high school I was always terrified of going away for college. High school teachers always made it seem like it was a terrifying thing and that professors would never want to help you and that you were always on your own. Through my experiences here at Stockton I learned quickly that what they told me was false. Every single one of my professors was there for me and always gave me options to better myself and to fix the mistakes that I have made in class. I would not be graduated and with a full time teaching job if it wasn’t for the great and supportive professors here at Stockton University. If you ever find yourself struggling, ask your professors for a hand! I am sure they would be happy to assist you.
My name is Anna Cavalieri and I am a junior Hospitality & Tourism Management major. I am also the Vice President of the Hospitality Management Society as of the beginning of the fall semester. The club is a great connection for any hospitality majors to the industry itself and to the university as a whole. A major way that it connects all of its students to the university is through the Career Center. The Career Center plays such a major role in developing your professional self. I know for me when learning about resumes, I utilized all facets the department had available. The development of a professional manner leads into standing out in the hospitality and tourism industry. The society and Stockton University has so many opportunities through and through for all personalities and for all people with any type of industry interests. Personally, the club has done a lot for me. It has given me lifelong friendships and networks, amazing opportunities for visiting places and events, an internship/job that will most likely be leading toward my career, and fun lasting memories. This is one of Stockton Universities newest and friendliest clubs that I, Alex happen to be a part of. It is called the Stockton Aquarium and Aquaculture Club or SAAC for short. In this photo, we took a club trip to the Meadowlands Exposition Center for the event "Aquatic Experience." Once there, we all enjoyed and learned so much about the fish tank hobby as well as met a lot of professionals of aquaculture in the process. Major companies came to present and have panels on many interesting fish tank and aquaculture related topics. That trip was an exciting experience not only individually but as a group because we were able to bond and get to know one another even better. The club is planning to do aquaculture of its own here at Stockton through a Coral Farm. If you love fish tanks and a friendly atmosphere, make sure to search and check out the club on your own!

I am a member of T.A.L.O.N.S. I love being a part of this group because it has given me the opportunity to create strong relationships, have new experiences and develop valuable skills. Truly, the best decision I've made since coming to Stockton was to get involved and I have grown exponentially in the past two years for this reason. I am grateful for all that Stockton has provided for me and I look forward to finding out what else this University has to offer. |
